Cauda is the result of a journey of study and experimentation by the artist Viola Pineider throughout her experience in 2022 at the Escola de Arte Visuais do Parque Lage in Rio de Janeiro It is a sculpture that was developed from scraps of demolition wood found by her. As often happens in the artist’s work, the works take shape through making and building, letting the work speak for itself. From the observation of the material and possible combinations, together with Viola’s personal studies on antispeciesism and post-humanism, “Cauda” was born, as a being that affirms its own presence in space and escapes control both due to its dimensions and the unexpected flexibility given by rubber connections.
